WHITESBURG, Ky. – Dedication, passion, and student success are at the heart of Dr. Sandy Holbrook’s career. Her commitment was recognized at the spring semester faculty meeting with the 2025 E.W. Conover Faculty Excellence Award—the highest faculty honor at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College.

A native of Eolia, Kentucky, Dr. Holbrook has served as a faculty member since 1994, shaping the futures of countless students. As a first-generation college graduate and Pell Grant recipient, she understands the challenges students face and works tirelessly to create opportunities for their success.
“We are thrilled to recognize Dr. Holbrook with this well-deserved honor,” said Dr. Patsy Jackson, SKCTC interim president/CEO. “Her dedication to student success and the lasting difference she has made at SKCTC is truly remarkable."

Dr. Holbrook holds degrees in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, and educational leadership and previously received the Robert H. Gipe Faculty Award in 2021. Outside of teaching, Dr. Holbrook enjoys wildlife photography, has authored two children’s books, and is passionate about camping and riding motorcycles. She is also married with two sons and three grandsons.
