LEXINGTON, Ky. — The man who leads the nation's largest
traditional supermarket store chain holds bachelor's and master's degrees from
the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics.
Kroger Chairman and CEO Rodney McMullen (pictured) was a double major in finance and accounting as an undergraduate at UK, then earned his master's in accounting a year later.
38 years ago, this native of Pineville, Kentucky, began working at one of Kroger's Lexington locations in order to be able to pay his college expenses. The rest, as they say, is history.
Carl Nathe of UK Public Relations and Marketing recently sat down with McMullen for a conversation on "UK at the Half," a feature about people and programs at the university, which airs at halftime of every live radio broadcast of Wildcat basketball and football on the UK Sports Network.
