Preseason league champion Alabama, not surprisingly, leads all SEC schools with the most first-team All-SEC selections with nine, according to 293 media members who participated in the annual preseason balloting at 2014 SEC Media Days in Hoover, Ala.
The top vote-getters for 2014 were wide receiver Amari Cooper (Alabama), running back T.J. Yeldon (Alabama) and running back Todd Gurley (Georgia). All three were voted to the preseason media team as well in 2013.
According to the news media, Alabama, which finished last season with two straight losses during its 11-2 campaign, is expected to capture the Western Division and SEC championships, beating out second-place Auburn. Coach Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina club is the favorite to win the Eastern Division, edging second-place Georgia.
Kentucky is picked to finish last in the seven-team Eastern Division behind No. 5 Tennessee and No. 6 Vanderbilt.
